John Higgins - A cheater ?

Following a publication at www.newsoftheworld.co.uk the world now has a different look on the upcoming World Snooker Championship Final between Dott and Robertson. People are now asking themselves not who will win with a better performance on table, but who has "swallowed" more cash, not to win a frame or two?

The article posted at that link ( http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/news/801641/How-world-snooker-champion-John-Higgins-plots-to-betray-his-fans-for-cash.html ) shows a video of John Higgins and his manager Pat Mooney, a board member of the World Professional Snooker and Billiards Association, negotiating a deal for 300k UK pounds for deliberately losing 4 frames in different tournaments throughout the year.

How should we actually read this?

Does this happen with other snooker players? How many other players are involved in similar cases? Do we actually see true fights between snooker players or staged performance, commanded by people with money? Don't know if it's possible to answer these questions but one is sure. John Higgins surely knows how to play snooker. He doesn't need to lose a few frames in order to make some money. He surely knows how to do it the right way!

EDIT 10.03.2011 - Higgins IS BACK!!! And he DEFINITELY knows how to win fairly!

He proved it by winning 2 of the first 3 tours he entered after the end of his ban from pool. He did prove he deserves his world title and everything he's won. The bad side of his actions still remain though - people won't forget easily what insult he gave to the sport. But as the say time heals everything. Specially now when his father is gone ( Rest in Peace, mr. Higgins!) - people would tend to forget the past and look with heads up to the future. I really hope it's for the best.

Good luck, John!
